Another success for The Fish
October 30 , 2011
The Bulgarian professional boxer Alexey Ribchev added another prestigious win in his record. After a tremendous fight he defeated former Commonwealth champion and former EBU title challenger Matthew Hall (23-3) . The English boxer was frustrated in his home town Manchester. Ribchev`s coach Alexey Vasilev was next to him in the corner. Here is what he said about the fight : “The first round was very even, probably the referee scored it for Hall. Then we won clearly the next 3 rounds. The fifth one was our weakest. Ribchev came in the corner with a pain in the right hand and he was forced to use his left hand only. In the last seconds of the sixth round in his typical style The Fish showed his desire to win and despite the pain he was the more active and accurate boxer. The referee deservedly scored it 59-57 in our favor. I am very happy and I believe this will bring more confidence in my boxer which will led to greater success in his career. -

Ribchev ready to rumble
September 9 , 2011
When UBO International Middleweight Champion Alexei Ribchev (10-3-1, 3 KOs) defends his title for the first time, this coming Saturday September 10, in hometown Rousse against dangerous Uruguayan Ruben Silva Diaz (37-21-4, 20 KOs), he will enjoy massive support from a packed and sold-out Dunav Hall.Promoter Vasko Vasilev expects that all tickets will be sold, and a ten-fight undercard, including a Bulgarian national title fight, will complete an exciting evening of boxing.
Ribchev is reportedly in great shape, and eager to show his fans what he can do against Silva.
“Alexei is in perfect condition, and has been sparring in different cities for the last two weeks and looked great”, says Vasilev who knows very well what his boxer will be up against in Silva Diaz:
“We watched video of Diaz, and we expect him to be dangerous in the first 2-3 rounds. He is a hard-punching boxer with an untraditional style. He fights from both stances, and is very awkward.“But Ribchev, if he is not caught early, should be able to wear him down with his high tempo, and maybe even win by knockout in the later rounds.”
Former Uruguayan and WBA Fedelatin Champion Diaz, who twice fought for world championships, of course have other plans. He has no intentions of losing, and believe he has faced better fighters than the Bulgarian.
In his last bout Diaz went the distance against former WBC world champion Carlos Baldomir, and he will be full of confidence that he can do the same, and win, against Ribchev.

February 21 , 2011
Alexey Ribchev achieved a grandiose success last night. The boxer from Rousse is now the new UBO international middleweight champion. In front of more than 1000 spectators in the overflowing “Dunav” hall the 28 year-old Alexey defeated Latvian Jurijs Boreiko on points in a 10-round battle. The judges scored (100-90, 100-90, 99-91) and so Ribchev got the title by unanimous decision. This title was vacant until last night.
“Great game, the atmosphere was incredible too”, said the president of the Bulgarian professional boxing league Krasimir Ininski. “The match was full of incredible exchanges. We have to give to the Latvian too – experienced, trained well, great fighter. But Alexey overplayed him convincingly. By my calculations Boreiko won three rounds and Ribchev had the others seven. Alexey Ribchev: I hope to win emphatically
February 19 , 2011
Day before the big match against Yuriys Boreyko for the international title UBO (UniversalBoxing Organization) Alexei Ribchev gave an interview in which he says to his fans how important is the match for him, what does he knows about his opponent and more. Here are his words:- What does this match mean to you?
- For me this game is logical and an expected time in my career that rewards the efforts and successes I’ve had so far.
- The match is in Rousse. Do you a greater hope, because of that?
- It is always nice to play at home, especially when the stakes is world title. They say that at home even the walls help, I personally hope to win emphatically. Here is a moment to thank the general sponsor of this meeting company “Argo Ltd. Rousse”, which will make a special gesture to all the people who will come to support me with vouchers for a discount on every seat.
- What do you know about your opponent?
- Right guard, I watched his matches, a good fighter, very experienced and tough. He is difficult to bring down and has exceptional capability to stand after many hits.
- Is this the battle that can drill in the big box?
- Given the level of professional boxing in Bulgaria, the chance to fight for that title means a lot to me. For the big box is too early to say since I have only 9 meetings on profiling ring, but certainly if I win on Sunday, it will greatly contribute to my career.
- Which is the strongest attack you have?
- I use very often left uppercut in the liver and not once I have knocked my opponents. Right uppercut in the chin is also a very nice shot.
- How can you strategically overcome the enemy?
- I think I’m faster and stronger physically. From the first round I will start with the left uppercut and I hope it will affect the last rounds, as demonstrated from the victory I had in Switzerland.
- How long have you trained for this match?
- I know this meeting since the end of December. I have not stopped even on holidays. In early December I had a six rounds match in Switzerland and I think I’m getting better with each match.
- Are you superstitious, do you have traditions before the collision?
- I’m not superstitious. I focus entirely on the match and think only of victory. -
