Vladimir Georgiev claimed the biggest win of his career on 19 July 2025. After twelve demanding rounds against Ronny Landaeta at the Sveti Vlas amphitheatre, The Bulgarian Bull was UBO world super middleweight champion.
The man opposite him brought championship experience in boxing and a name Bulgarian fans remembered from uncompromising MMA battles. To take the belt, Vladimir had to stick to his plan against an opponent who knew how to make every bout a test. The Bull did it.
Landaeta: a familiar name to Bulgarian fans
Venezuelan-born Ronny Landaeta, who represents Spain, arrived with 22 wins, 6 losses and 12 knockout victories. He had won the Spanish title, the European Union belt and the IBF International title. At 42, he brought experience from a long career in two combat sports and the confidence of a man who had been through difficult fights.
In Bulgaria, we also knew him as Ronny Alexander. In August 2012 in Sveti Vlas, he fought a closely contested MMA bout with Rumen Dimitrov. Victory was initially awarded to the Bulgarian, but the result was later overturned and the bout became a No Contest. The fight caused a strong reaction and made the Venezuelan well known to the crowd.
In March 2013 in Sofia, Landaeta also knocked out Rosen Dimitrov in the first round with a spinning kick. Years before the championship fight with Georgiev, his name was already linked to the two celebrated Bulgarian sambo fighters. His return to Sveti Vlas carried that memory with it.
Discipline made the difference
Landaeta was every bit as tough as expected. Vladimir had to earn each opening and stay focused for all twelve rounds. He boxed with discipline, following the game plan rather than being drawn into the wrong fight.
After the final bell, all three cards were on his side: 118–111, 118–112 and 117–111. The UBO world belt was his, and his professional record moved to 14 wins and 4 losses. That night, The Bull found the answer against one of the most decorated opponents he had faced.
From Zdravko Popov to the world title opportunity
The road to Sveti Vlas passed through another major night. On 2 June 2023 in Plovdiv, Vladimir defeated the previously unbeaten Zdravko Popov to win the national super middleweight title after ten rounds. That success gave him a strong position in Bulgarian professional boxing.
Two years later against Landaeta, the UBO world belt was at stake. The two victories became cornerstones of his career: the national breakthrough against Popov and international success against the experienced Spaniard. “New Champion of the Year” — further recognition for the victory
On 7 January 2026, UBO named Georgiev its New Champion of the Year for 2025. The organisation recognised his convincing victory over Landaeta and the persistence with which he kept pursuing his chance after earlier setbacks in major fights.
The victory in Sveti Vlas thus earned a place among UBO’s annual awards. For Vladimir, this recognition adds further weight to the belt he won. But The Bull wants more: new tests, new victories and another big night. He continues to pursue his dreams, and we continue with him.
