Angel Emilov, known as Gele, returns to professional boxing on 24 October 2026. The Bulgarian will face unbeaten Irishman Eoghan Lavin at the Aura Complex in Letterkenny, Ireland. Scheduled for six rounds at super middleweight, the contest will be Angel’s 75th professional bout with gloves. His opponent brings eight wins from eight fights and will also have the support of an Irish crowd.

For Gele, this is his first fight after around 18 months away. According to our team, he has faced a number of difficulties during that period. His return presents a clear challenge: a young, unbeaten boxer and an assignment away from Bulgaria. That meeting between extensive experience and an opponent still early in his professional career gives the contest an interest beyond their respective records.

An opponent with eight wins and a BUI Celtic title

Eoghan Lavin is 23 and has eight wins, four by knockout, with no defeats or draws. In March 2026, he defeated Liam Walsh to claim the vacant BUI Celtic middleweight title. His upcoming contest with Emilov, however, is listed at super middleweight and has not been announced as a defence of that title.

Angel brings a considerably longer competitive career. Listed on BoxRec as Angel Petkov Emilov, he has completed 74 professional boxing bouts and 403 rounds. His record stands at 11 wins, 58 losses and five draws, with seven wins by knockout. At Alexeev Boxing, we regard Gele as a tough, awkward visiting opponent: our team’s assessment, based on our knowledge of his career.

Two appearances and two wins in BKFC

Bulgarian fans also know Angel from bare-knuckle boxing. Competing as Angel Petkov, he has made two BKFC appearances and won both, in Sofia: against Nikola Arsov in November 2023 and Felipe Da Silva Maia in March 2024. This is a separate part of his sporting career, with its own record, and those results are not added to his 74 professional boxing bouts with gloves.

On 24 October, the focus returns to boxing with gloves and the six scheduled rounds against Lavin. The upcoming away bout brings together opponents at different stages of their careers: an Irishman with eight consecutive wins and a Bulgarian with more than 400 rounds behind him. For Angel, it will be an opportunity to show his boxing to an audience again after the lengthy break.

Everyone at Alexeev Boxing wishes Gele success as he prepares to return to the ring in Ireland.
