The Universal Boxing Organization named Vasko Alexeev its Manager of the Year for 2011. The original certificate, issued under the name Vasko Vasilev, cites his work with UBO International middleweight champion Alexey Ribchev.
For us, the award recognises the work behind Ribchev’s title campaign: building opportunities around a fighter and helping bring championship bouts to life.
The work behind Ribchev’s title
Ribchev won the UBO International title against Juris Boreiko in Ruse in 2011. UBO’s own archive names Vasko as the promoter, independently confirming the role recorded in our personal archive.
Ribchev won the fight and the belt. The management award recognised the work behind that opportunity — a different contribution to a shared achievement.
What the award recognises
This is an annual UBO award, not an overall ranking of every manager in world boxing. Its exact name matters: “2011 Manager of the Year”. The original has been preserved and can be viewed here without a rewritten inscription or a title added later.
In the following annual awards, for 2012, UBO again mentions Vasko Vasilev as Alexey Ribchev’s manager — this time among the honourable mentions. That is separate recognition, not a second Manager of the Year win.
